I’m going to New Orleans on October 11th is it back to normal after Gustav?
I’ve had a trip planned for a few months to Nawlins. But after Hurricane Gustav last week, I wondered if people have come back yet: the evacuation, damage, etc: would it be better to delay the trip till next year? (I’m especially grateful for responses from folk actually IN Louisiana).
Thanks.

Why, haven’t you been following Ike’s progress? Hurricane season is until the end of November, be prepared to be (pleasantly or not) surprised.

Yes it is back to normal. Hell the hurricane didnt even touch N.O. but everyone is back home and things are fine. Hope you enjoy your stay there. =)

Actually Gustav didn’t really mess up anything in New Orleans. And Yes the evacuees have went back home because they evacuated to where I live. It would probably be ok to still go on your trip.

They haven’t recovered completely from KATRINA yet; I was just there last week, and New Orleans is NOT back to normal ! PLUS, hurricane IKE should arrive there (maybe), this coming week-end !

Maybe by Oct. 11th it might be but now they are waiting for the (hopefully lesser) effects of Ike. Take your scuba gear and maybe a kayak.

There was not much damage from Gustav in New Orleans and nothing but your average debris in the French Quarter.

Gustav “sideswiped” New Orleans and the damage was mainly downed tree limbs abd power outages. The city “re-opened” on September 3rd and is effectiely back to normal now. Ike is forecast to miss New Orleans, though the city may get some thunderstorm-type weather over theis coming weekend.
Hope you have a great time!
