You'll make friends and get know people from a different part of this country. I feel for you though because I never go to far away places by myself, but last year I finally did. I went to Italy for 10 days with a my college, but the catch was I didn't know anyone going, or anyone who knew anyone going, but in the end I had SO much fun, and met really great people. But if it's just too much for you to take, see if there are some alternate dates that you can go. There are so many in New Orleans who lost every material thing they own in the hurricane. Their needs are so great. They need to know that they don't have to do this alone. Who knows? You might meet some great people down there and just decide to stay there yourself! I am not one who likes to be away from home and I'm usually really really stressed about this kinda stuff...I knew with all my heart the Lord wanted me to go, so even though I had doubts I went. I have an incredible time of learning and growing in my faith! I would just encourage you to really pray and seek God in what He wants you to do and if He is asking you to go, even though you don't want to without your friends, obey Him...He IS faithful, just trust Him.
