Myself and 2 friends are going to New Orleans in the middle of Mardi Gras and I wanted to get a cheap hotel on or right by Bourbon street for cheap. Any Ideas?

Cheap will be very hard to find anywhere in New Orleans during the Carnival parading season.
There are only 4 hotels actually on Bourbon Street (Astor, Royal Sonesta, Ramada Inn on Bourbon, Bourbon-Orleans) and none of them are cheap. Anywhere in the Central Business District or the French Quarter will be within walking distance of Bourbon Street/the rest of the French Quarter.
Search the travel sites (airgorilla, orbitz, travelocity, etc) and also check the hotel sites. Go to for some non-chain properties. You may need to search the period of 19 or 20 to 24 February separately as that is the height of the season and hotels tend to insist on selling those dates as a block. Call the hotels yourself if you can’t get clear results from their websites (all or almost all of them have toll-free numbers).
Finally, go to for more info on Carnival in New Orleans, and be sure to look through the FAQ section.
I don’t think there is such a thing. Most places raise their rates for that event and you would be hard pressed to find anything if you wait much longer. Many places are booked a year in advance.
Try the Holiday inn express on Carondalette. It turns in to Bourbon street and I know for the off season rooms go for 71.00 a night. Or try Park St Charles. It is about four blocks from Canal Street and the trolley passes in front of the hotel. On the off season rooms go for 69.00 a night. Good luck
Mardi Gras is the highest hotel rate of the year in New Orleans its often 3 times what the normal rates are and often book a year in advance. You might want to try and see what they have in the french quarter.
But you wont find anything cheap that week unless you go outside the french quarter.

nothing is cheap especially around MG.
even camp grounds are full.
the cheapest you’ll find is a friend or relatives couch or floor.
theoretically you can walk to Bourbon street from anywhere in the French Quarter.
if you make your reservation for 2010 now you might find a nice room.

Search here for cheap hotels
It provides search option like near a landmark etc
But beware … cheap hotels can be trouble some times so check reviews of the hotel you are going to book.
Check the exact location of hotel from google maps.
