I grew up in that town and Mardi Gras is the best day of the year. Most of the French spoken will be heard in homes and in bars by older people with a few younger ones sprinkled in. But, if you ever want to experience a Courir de Mardi Gras instead of parades in New Orleans, find your way to Big Mamou!

Ne pas toucher mon poulet; That means don’t touch my chicken in French; I know because I’ve lived in Louisiana for almost 18 years.
