This is an excellent introduction for those people like myself who are just beginning to learn about these groups and their fabulous masking, and their call response songs. Videos like this are a good way of documenting this rich culture. I like the fact that children are featured in this video.
Here’s a question: What is the role of women in these groups-besides as the queen? Do women other than the queen mask? Thanks for posting this video!

This is very important part of Louisiana Creole culture and American History. This is especially important to me because I have creole lineage from New Orleans. I hope and pray that the Mardi Gras Indians tradition is kept alive.
