The bawdiest of New Orlean’s Mardi Gras parades, Krewe du Vieux’s theme this year was, “The Stimulus Package” and every float and participant in the parade took a shot at our festering economy. Three months later…..yup, looks like I survived….and, yup, will return fer next year! Currently scaring friends with the mardi gras beads and planning a NO themed zine for next year.

Yep, that’s the Panorama Brass Band in the orange shirts. One of the most distinctive bands in the city and always a favorite at Carnival!

Could they be the Panorama Jazz Band? I think I saw them wearing orange shirts like that in one of the parades recently.

They are great, but I don’t know who they are. I just saw them again yesterday in the Krewe of Tucks parade marching with the Dragons. I also wish I knew who they are, I ‘d love to go to hear them play. If I find out I’ll let you know.

I’ll be flying off to NO this Friday for the final Mardi Gras wind-up. I can see this as a warning/warm-up. Whatever the case might be.
