yes it is! I live in Louisiana, It is hot and Humid but the food and people are nice even tho New Orleans is one of the highest murder rates in the country as long as you don’t fuck with anyone you will be fine! My favorite part is i get a week off of school for this, and last year at mardi gras i saw 3 girls in a fight it was 2 vs 1 the 1 girl kicked both of their asses and one of the girls had only 1 arm and when she fell she shook the ground no joke! yes it is great to live in Louisiana!

Only 1 week in February? I thought Carnival in Brazil was supposed to be even crazier than New Orleans! lololol

Here, the season starts Jan. 6 and lasts till Mardi Gras (the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday). Do you get off of work? It’s a state holiday here and most people are out of work or school for Lundi Gras, Mardi Gras, and Ash Wednesday. :-)

Whoa, thank you for these extra-complete answer! appreciate it, really =)
so i guess mardi gras is quite a wild party eh? gosh, i wish i could go there someday. to be part of this animation, and maybe to distribute some beads =P
i’m from Brazil.. in here, only the paid and in the crew ones get naked, but wildness is all around in some cities in here for one week in february.
    twt: @marceloramires ;)
    and thank you again!

  6. LaHolly Says:

Lol, yknow they really should have a cool name or something but we just call them Mardi Gras beads.

The goal is to acquire the very best beads – large in diameter, long length, or unique in shape – and yes girls do flash their ta-ta’s for them.

The beads are not valuable at all so why do we want them? Because when it comes to Carnival time, even normally rational people lose their minds for a little while.
    ;-)

This was the 1st Mardi Gras after the storm. N.O. needed the infusion of cash that visitors from out of town brought to the city.

some people do drink there, and i guess some repent..but most dont feel the need to…
its about having a good time, the history of the whole thing, and enjoying the music. just enjoying life.
it really is a great place, you should go sometime…there is nothing else on earth like Mardi Gras, Bourbon st. the French Quarter
if you drink, then drink, if you dont, its all good, they just ask that you have a good time! enjoy the music, the great food, get some beads, and have a good time.

    peace

  17. Zonafia Says:

Isn’t marty gras a few days of drunken debauchery followed by repentence to God? (I really don’t know. This is what I’ve heard at school.)
