I am planning a Mardi Gras themed graduation party. Any ideas for a way to make sure everyone has a good time?

For invitations, I will be sending out personilized masks/top hats. I will also have party favors such as Mardi Gras beads, tamborines and glow necklaces. I am also on a tight budget so ideas for inexpensive food/refreshments would also be appreciated.

You have to have a King Cake – the one with purple, green and gold sugars and a small plastic baby hidden inside for a prize. You can get these at many bakeries and also on line.

You could serve Po-boys (basically sub sandwiches), dirty beans and rice, jambalaya, crawfish taters and corn on the cob boil.

You need to have some good New Orleans jazz, blues, Cajun music. Have fun!

Karla covered most of what I was going to say, but also get some cheap plastic hurricane glasses – available at most warehouse type stores, or party stores. Whether or not you’re serving alcohol (and frankly, is it a Mardi Gras party if you aren’t?!), you can make fun punch drinks!!!

New Orleans Style Pralines. Creole Candy. It’s yummy :)
