New Orleans Mardi Gras 1954
The good old days of Mardi Gras 1954. Pictures taken by my dad and mother during Mardi Gras 1954. We lived there in 1953 and 1954 before moving to Houston, TX. Great era, I don’t think its the same as the old days.

You can say that again, but Texas Mardi Gras is better than no Mardi Gras at all. There is a good on in Trinidad and Brazil too.

Trust me..New Orleans STARTED Mardi Gras so you havent really been to Mardi Gras if you didnt cometo the one in New Orleans. Texas only copies what they think they know about New Orleans Mardi Gras, Tx can never come close to the real thing.

That was lame. Are you bitter for something other went thru?? Look around you things are changing. Look at it liket this… They paved the way for us to do what we do now. The president for goodness sake is half black!!! What more do you want at this point?? It was people like your grandfather who helped make it possible. So thank the lord pray and move on.

This Isn’t no good ol days, when whites were openly racist against black, cajuns, native americans creole despite the fact that we contribute to N.O. culture before the U.S. bought our homeland from France.
Atleast I get to see old school New Orleans I’d to live back then though my grandfather was a Creole(French,Native American, African) very fair complected entrepreneur who tried to get muscled by the damn New Orleans family.

if you are or have read this comment then you are cursed for life. You will have a terrible life and never get married (if you are already married you will get divorced). Only way to undo this curse is if you comment 5 videos with this exact message. **BEWARE**

Thanks for suggestion, only song found was Saints Go Marching In. Been having problems with YouTube and music I upload. At least the background is jazz. Haven’t been to Mardi Gras since then. Hope you like the change. Wolfie

Nice film, thanks for sharing this.
I do question your choice of music for this though…. I think any 1950s Mardi Gras music would have gone much better.
I’m a little surprised how many of the costumes, floats, and scenes of people dancing in the street are very much the same more than 50 years later.
