The good old days of Mardi Gras 1954. Pictures taken by my dad and mother during Mardi Gras 1954. We lived there in 1953 and 1954 before moving to Houston, TX. Great era, I don’t think its the same as the old days.

For invitations, I will be sending out personilized masks/top hats. I will also have party favors such as Mardi Gras beads, tamborines and glow necklaces. I am also on a tight budget so ideas for inexpensive food/refreshments would also be appreciated.

I am planning a trip next year for Mardi Gras, but I have heard that New Orleans is still a very dangerous place for tourists. Would anyone who lives there or has been there recently confirm this? We are planning to go as a group and will probably rent a pair of SUV’s for the trip. I am concerned that the trucks may make us targets for being robbed.
